Elite Shungite is very brittle and when drilling we often end up with a pile of broken pieces doh, (into our water to make Shungite water it goes). If you don’t want to destroy your piece of Elite, we suggest you buy a pendant already created for you here.

How to tell if you have a real Elite Shungite Pendant

One of the easiest ways is simply by looking at it.  If it has conchoidal fracture, that it is good sign.

What is a conchoidal fracture? A conchoidal fracture is a type of breakage that can occur in certain materials.  These include glass, quartz, and certain types of stone.  Like Elite Shungite. This occurs when they do not have a natural plane of separation. This type of fracture creates smooth, curved surfaces that resemble the shape of a seashell. Hence the name “conchoidal”, which comes from “conch”, the Latin word for “shell”. The surface of a conchoidal fracture can appear slightly concave and may display concentric undulations or ripples, similar to the growth lines seen in shells.
